Preston McQueen
WoodTurner and FlyFisher
I grew up in a small town outside Knoxville, Tennessee, building tree houses on my family’s farm with hammers and boards my brothers and I borrowed from my grandfather. If we couldn’t find what we needed in the coffee cans in the tool shed, we’d walk to the hardware store for nails. We’d spend almost every day fishing the river on our property, until my mom rang the big bell calling us home for dinner. That’s where I got my love for the woods and for fishing.
I now make high-end functional art pieces, working with wood that reminds me of those early days. I consider myself an artist, making pieces to cherish, give as gifts, and maybe even pass on to your kids. These days, I split my time between turning wood, making specialized fly-tying accessories, fly fishing, and getting outside with my family and buddies to marvel at the beauty of nature.
